It's a multitasking tool.

And yes, there's more, it has a small, lapel pin. The middle of the flower holds a round pin that is removable and replaceable with a magnet. The two cuts required to be considered for the Circle weekly challenge are the font (Songbird) and the petals (From My Kitchen, the chicken body. Yep.).

It's okay, we've all been there. Learning to sew, learning to quilt. Fingering new fabrics and handling gadgets.

Red with The Hood Shows Up
So, I butchered the tale of the Little girl who wears a Riding Hood in Red. Now for the real LRRH and my visual apology to such a solid and unforgetful story.
Hm. I recall something about three little pigs...
I skipped the grisly part of the story, obviously <..>

Cricut's Country cart gave me the little girl (who has very long legs so I guess she's not so much a girl as a young adult : ). THe trees are segmented and cut with differing papers for a disoriented feeling. The background is foam board in black with a thin coat of stickles in crystal. The hood and cape are cut to fit and the bread (yummy) is cut by hand too. Havin' fun with my paper and glue! Hm. I recall something about three little pigs...

Little Red, Part II
Little Red finds the door open, walks in and looks around. What's this? Thin Mints? She loves those cookies and takes a few. Okay, she took the box. Looking in on the rest of the home she sees a very comfy waterbed with velvet and satin sheets.
The Bear family comes home sooner than expected. Momma knows something is different in the house; the Thin Mints are missing! Following the trail of sweet, dark crumbs they find the perp in their bed. The family is not too happy about this and Little Red knows this when she opens her eyes.
To make it up to the Bears she gets Mr. Bear a job where she works (she is familiar with the manager, wink-wink). Mr. Bear is grateful and assures her that all is forgiven, but that she owes Mrs. Bear a box of Thin Mints next year.
The End
This was a lot of fun to put together and a pain as well. I guess that's the beauty of a challenge. Originally I was going to post it on the Circle challenge for the children's theme week. It was never finished in time. This week I am determined to make the next challenge's deadline. The theme is Flowers.

Little Red Riding Hood or A Modern Day Trailer Park Drama
Ah yes, the day is Friday. The week snuck by me, but last night's tornado warning and alarms are memorable. We had to get the hall closet ready for four people and two dogs. Luckily, nothing came of it for us. Unfortunately, it was a terrible night for a few others. My heart goes out to those families.
I would like to turn to a lighter topic. I am posting the children's book created recently, made of paper. Saying it's a children's book is a loose description. I'd say it's for the child in all of us over 18.
Here is the cover

Covered in burlap with a strip of denim. It's the essence of simple life and necessity. Here we see the family of three. They pose on their lawn, quite proud of who they are. They should be.
We now look upon the simple home of said family on the lot that Daddy inherited from his Uncle Bo who raised him. Life is hard now as the economy put Daddy out of work and Mommy is not ready to let Junior go into a daycare. Besides, should Mommy work it would take all her paycheck anyway. Daddy searches for work.
Meanwhile, the girl down the street wonders what life is like behind the aluminum door of the Bear home. She waits for them to take a walk to the 7-11 to make her move.
(Junior sees the girl and tries to tell Mommy. Mommy can't quite understand Junior yet so replies, "Yes, honey. We are going for a walk outside, keep yer fur on."
to be continued.
Various Cricut carts played a huge role in this. Off the top of my head are Forever Young, My Community and Cars ( for the tire).

Hiatus Over
Now it's back to the blog. Took time to collect myself and it was a good idea. Now the husband is in his new job and I am down one kid on Tuesdays and Thursdays 'cause T is in class five days a week now. Woohoo!
What have I been doing? The biggest task was attending a conference in San Antonio. It was a real pleasure to be with like-minded women (and their husbands) all with the same focus: support of families.
Now, here's a look at my latest creation:
Yes, it IS a scene from Little Red Riding Hood. However, this little girl is about 17 and knows better. It's set in modern day America, somewhere in the Southern region. There is a spin on the tale; I have a strange sense of humor. I'll post the rest of the story over the course of this week.
