Well, isn't this toasty? I'm moving along with my business by juggling sewing, tax stuff, reading about starting a business, setting up finances Oh Etc... I'm moving so fast it doesn't feel like 12*outside. What's the weather like for you?

This'll keep you warm too.

I'll be attempting to create a wall quilt from a block that I chose out of EQ7. BIG patches so should go fast. Also going to enlist Marti Michell's method (1 of them) of quilting as you go. Do you do that? Have you tried it? Is it easy?

So fabric has me all wrapped up in its spell...

and I don't mind. Currently finishing up a small quilt for a sweet girl I know ; ) she will surely like it when received for the holidays.

I've read almost a dozen quilting magazines and countless quilting books were borrowed from the library in the past month. Sometimes I'd go through a pile of books in a night and pick up more the next day. I've missed a lot in the past six or so years of being away from thread and fabric.

Here is a blog I want to share Free Motion. how inspiring!! Love her enthusiasm and sharing spirit. This will go a long way in getting some spaces filled on the quilts I have planned.
The oddly matched block above is a fused applique. The deer is from Making Memories' Travel design card. I don't have an embroidery machine (don't need one), but the Slice works wonderfully in giving me images to use on fabric.
AND I managed to add photos to this post after I was told how (thanks, honey) to get them from an external drive.

Meanwhile, cast on, stitch on and sew on.

Life is Slippery

And it got away from me for a while. Now that the household is settled we three can get on with our new routine for the next few months, sans daddy. We'll miss him dearly, but Skype makes it easy to communicate – especially when there is video too. And, if we are lucky, there may be a visit or two from him.

Well, fabric is on my mind and here's a hop to participate in:

I'm slightly bleary-eyed having gone to several shops and entered for prizes; browsing after entering, is the culprit.

Try http://www.modabakeshop.com/ for great recipes in sewing up great items for gifts and yourself.

I can't upload pics due to the fact that I DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY ARE! They're somewhere in this grey box of a computer, but my better half knows more about it than I do. And he's a few hundred miles away. I'll get them. Sometime soon. Meanwhile, cast on, stitch on and sew on.

Fingering Fabrics For the Fun of It

I am far behind in knowing what's new in fabric, but enjoying catching up. Here is a view of some ½ yard cuts I ordered online with FabricWorm. This week has been full of flipping through library books for cute bags, felted gifts and the like. I'm searching for something, but have not found it yet.

Friday's Money is No Object:

A new sewing machine like this one (link). And a cabinet to work in! (link) I've managed to spill out of the room I work in (hey, it IS small) and onto the dining table. The side pantry is getting a small dose of fabric stash!

hee-yah!

Befuddled by the flannel pants

Well the pants were revised and are now in bed with our sleeping boy. The hemming took more work than I thought, but about four inches(!) were snipped off the legs. Alarming. Well, maybe not. My first real pair of pants I ever made (that means that I wore them in public) had one leg longer than the other. This was pointed out to me by my boss' spouse at the time. Embarassing enough to make me turn to quilting.
It has been a while since fat quarters for me, but it's like riding a bike, right? Although this time the blankets and such are not for me. I'm thinking bags and the like. I've perused eBags for months now trying to find an (affordable) small bag that will appeal to me. Seems that making it might be the answer.
Whew! I spent some time today in the Etsy Lab for a talk about being a newbie and followed by another hour of shop critiques. Well, I tried to spend time as the boys had their own agenda that was perpendicular to mine. I learned a lot.
Money is No Object Friday!
A sofa so easy to change (link) that I could have a different look every two weeks (oh so me). What about a chair to go with (link)?
I must mention that I finished reading What Good Are the Arts. My thoughts about the arts have been shaken by it. It's Great! Nothing like getting shaken up, turned around and righted. Well, that's my opinion about the book anyway.
Now I am on to Carl Sagan's The Demon Haunted World. It's like Christopher Hitchens Lite. I adore Sagan and wish he had been immortal (wonder what he would have thought of that).
Hey, think I'll turn in early to get a few more pages in.

Fa-fa-fa-fabric oh I loooo-uuhuh-v U

Yes, I love fabric. Especially cotton. Especially printed cotton. You must see this Link.

Here is a view of the pj bottoms that I downloaded from SewingPatterns.com. They came out a wee bit Large for our 3 year old. It'll take some revision, but I am keeping in mind growth spurts and fixing the hem to be adjustable.

Pattern on plain paper printed at home.
More flannel; doggies for them, flowers for me.
